About the Work
My paintings have dramatic lighting, rich texture, and vibrant colors. The layers of different materials form rich, tactile surfaces, evoking a sculptural feel. I collect paint scraps and repurposed materials to build the layers in my work, taking items others would consider waste and showcasing the beauty of their textures in my art. Some of the materials used include palette paint scraps, sawdust, fabrics, and even rice. Most of my large work is done on canvases created and stretched by hand. I often leave traces of my process by allowing drips, raw canvas, and early layers to be exposed. lending a unique character to each piece. I thrive on capturing the beauty of these imperfections, in contrast to the perfection often sought in mass-produced art.
